St Andrews would be the ultimate statement choice of venue for any corporate golf event. Internationally renowned as the home of golf itself, the impression is all but guaranteed. We need to be clear at the outset however, unless you’re a contracted title sponsor of the R&A you won’t be permitted to ‘take out’ any of the most prestigious links courses in the town. That doesn’t happen for anyone. Instead we’ll need to focus on those championship courses which are more commercial facing in their ambition
The Torrance course and the Kittocks course are a couple of miles to the south east of St Andrews and play around the five-star Fairmont hotel. The hotel owns and manages these two courses. Both courses are laid out on a cliff top with impressive views out to sea and arresting vistas of the towns skyline looking back towards St Andrews. The courses have been expertly designed to imitate a links feel and even if they aren’t strictly speaking ‘links’ courses the character of the experience would easily lead to believe otherwise
The hotel would become the central hub of the day but the proximity of the town means that you’re easily within reach of St Andrews itself and would doubtless which benefit from spending time in the evening there. St Andrews is a legitimate point of interest regardless of any golf connection. The ruins of the castle and cathedral, as well as the university lend the town a vibrancy that ensures it punches well above its weight
One of the questions anyone considering a corporate golf day at St Andrews is bound to be asked concerns the legendry Old Course. Provided the applicant is qualified by handicap (24 for men and 36 for ladies) and provided that the Old course is available for play on the day in question, and provided that you’re prepared to excuse their absence, , then the answer is yes. Golfers can enter ‘the ballot’ and should their name be drawn out, then they can play

Both the Torrance and the Kittocks play in a loop around the Fairmont hotel. The pair are located on a cliff top with arresting view of the sea and the town of St Andrews. They are of Championship standard and in 2020 the Torrance course joined the European Tour when hosting the Scottish Masters.
The courses have been sculptured to give them a links feel and the result has been successful.
St Andrews
The ancient old town of St Andrews is much more than a collection of golf courses and a legitimate visitor attraction in its own right. The ruined old castle and cathedral are within easy walking distance of the centre, as is the beach famed for the title sequence in the Oscar winning film, ‘Chariots of Fire’.
In terms of hospitality the town is surprisingly vibrant but then when you consider the influence of the university in otherwise small population, perhaps this isn’t too surprising
Accommodation
St Andrews has a total of three, internationally recognised five-star hotels. The Fairmont sits on a cliff top overlooking the sea and the town below. A choice of rooms exist dependent on whether you wish to overlook the golf courses or the sea (we prefer the latter). As you would expect from a hotel in this category you benefit from all the health and leisure facilities you’d expect as well as top quality restaurants, and bars where you’ll enjoy a generous food and drink allowance
Fly or train to Edinburgh whereupon its approximately 50 miles (75 mins) to St Andrews. The hotel provides a shuttle bus into St Andrews during the day
