Dalmahoy is a parkland course on the Edinburgh city fringe in close proximity to the airport. It needn’t be the biggest name in Scottish golf, and might have lost a little bit of prestige since the days when it featured on the European Tour, or hosted the 1992 Solheim Cup, but it is still the best combination that the Scottish capital can offer by way of a corporate golf package that includes Edinburgh. The East course is recognised as being something of a lengthy brute, whereas the more gentle West course tends to be the one that probably lends itself better to a corporate golf day with Edinburgh
If anyone wanted to try and play St Andrews then it would be possible to arrange this through the ‘ballot’. They would likely need to be excused their duties at Dalmahoy however and would incur a transport adjustment to made for them, but it is otherwise quite feasible
Getting to central Dalmahoy is easy. The golf course and resort hotel are a mere 4 miles, or 15 minutes south of the airport. It’s really convenient. Edinburgh itself is slightly further away, the city centre being 8 miles to the south west, or 30 minutes allowing for traffic
A big attraction of Corporate Golf at Dalmahoy is the Scottish capital itself. Let’s be honest here. The industry might use phrases like ‘hospitality’ or ‘entertainment’ etc but most of us know what we’re really talking about, and although perhaps people don’t like to openly admit it, we are in most cases signalling the well won reputation that Edinburgh enjoys for an evening out and enjoying oneself. Whereas other UK cities also offer this enticement, what probably puts Edinburgh in the top bracket though is that she caters equally for culture vultures and those seeking entertainment beyond a drink.

Although 50 miles away, it would be possible for someone who won a ballot to play the St Andrews Old CourseEast Course & West Course
The Dalmahoy East course is most renowned as the host venue for the 1992 Solheim Cup, (Europe’s first ever victory in the event was achieved here). Dalmahoy is a parkland course of mature tree lined, and wide, forgiving fairways. They need to be though. The East course is brutally long and you need to be able to send a tee-shot on its way with a bit more venom than normal
The West course by contrast is a little bit more compassionate and less punishing on the errant. It tends to be the West course that corporate golf days use
Edinburgh
Edinburgh is a city of great personality and character as well as possessing an eclectic mixture of gothic, classical, and Georgian architecture. Few cities in the UK make a more strikingly favourable impression on the casual visitor than the Scottish capital.
Although we’re sure evening activity never enters into any decision for a corporate event! Just in case does though – we should perhaps reassure you that Edinburgh enjoys a well deserved reputation for ‘hospitality’ and ‘entertainment’ ( we believe its called?)
Accommodation
The four-star, Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club is the former home of the Earls of Morton and set in a landed estate of some 400 acres to the south west of Edinburgh on the capital’s urban fringe. Today’s hotel is a four-star complete with all the usual health, fitness and leisure facilities as well as a choice of bars and restaurants. The hotel never feels like it’s ‘in’ Edinburgh, even though it is. Prince’s Street is only 25 mins away by taxi for an evening out
Dalmahoy is about 4 miles, 15 minutes, from Edinburgh Airport. Anyone arriving by train has a similarly easy transfer of about 8 miles, 30 minutes
