At face value Castle Stuart in the highlands needn’t appear to be an obvious hosting venue for a corporate golf event, and in truth it probably isn’t in the traditional sense of what you might be looking for. What the course does do however is lend itself particularly well to a small or medium sized group, perhaps something more akin to a team building or team reward venue
From an English metropolitan hub, it’s actually quite a beguiling prospect. It’s maybe the ultimate ‘get away’. There are flights from London, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol to Inverness. The airport is 3 miles from the golf course, and the transfer out of the airport itself remarkably fast and smooth. It kind of leaves you asking ‘is that it?’ Within a comparatively short period of time, here you are, transported into the high north of Scotland, surrounded by stunning scenery and evocative history
The golf course at Castle Stuart is modern and ranked in the world’s top-100. It has hosted the Scottish Open on a few occasions now since it opened.
Your Castle Stuart experience needn’t be about hunkering down in a remote location however. There is a surprisingly rich depth of things to do. Loch Ness is about 45 mins away and the battlefield of Culloden 10 mins to the south. Taking an evening out in Inverness itself would require a taxi, but its hardly prohibitive at 15 mins away
Finally you might have noticed looking at a map that Speyside and some of the most famous names in whisky aren’t too far away either. Well yes, you can certainly ‘do’ the likes of Macallan, Glenffidich or Glenlivet from Castle Stuart. Glen Ord is probably the nearest distillery however and Strathisla is also close enough to weave into a day with the golf

Fresh from their success at Kingsbarns, the same design team went in search of their next project and found it carved into a hillside overlooking the Moray Firth.
Castle Stuart is a modern links course that makes full use of the natural environment. Upon opening it quickly established itself in the world’s top 100 and began to host the Scottish Open where Phil Mickelson and Luke Donald count amongst the winners
The driveable par 4, third, and the elevated tee shot at the tenth to lower tier on the shoreline count amongst the highlights. The par 3, eleventh is another beguiling challenging
Loch Ness & Culloden
Loch Ness is 45 mins to the south west of Castle Stuart. Why not charter out a small boat complete with ‘refreshments’ for a sunset cruise, taking in views of the loch and Urquhart Castle
If you want to immerse yourselves in Scottish history however, then you few places ‘tingle’ more than the battlefield of Culloden, some 5 miles south of the golf course. Here you can walk the field and stand in the exact same spots that the opposing Crown and Jacobite forces occupied in 1746. We’d probably regard it as the single most ‘interesting’ place in Scotland
Accommodation
You have two choices of accommodation.
Castle Stuart has exclusive an on-site self-catering cottages which are ideal for a medium sized team. If you’d rather not do your own cooking however, you can order food delivered to you from the clubhouse restaurant
If you prefer a more traditional accommodation with a sense of class, than the historic Culloden House, set in 40 acres of private estate is just 5 miles away
Inverness airport has direct routes from London, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol. Inverness also happens to be one the quickest reclaims and 'get-aways' in Scotland. Castle Stuart is less than 3 miles from the airport and takes 5 mins. Inverness is 15 mins away to the west
