The first thing to establish is that the Portmarnock Links course is distinct from the more illustrious Portmarnock Golf Course, albeit they share the same stretch of shoreline. The Bernhard Langer designed Portmarnock links is a more modern course but luckily it resisted the temptation to become a gimmicky corporate track and strove instead for authenticity, making good use of the natural terrain. It perhaps speaks volumes that in country that boasts Ballybunion, Lahinch and Waterville as well as a growing number of high value resort developments, that the Portmarnock Links has established itself in Ireland’s top-20 golf courses on merit.
If anyone wanted to play the Portmarnock Golf Course as well (or instead of) then it is possible to arrange this for you privately, but visitor access is limited to certain windows during the day
Getting to Portmarnock is easy. The golf course and resort hotel are a mere 7 miles, or 15 minutes east of the airport. It’s really convenient. Dublin itself is slightly further away, the city centre being 9 miles to the south west, or 30 minutes allowing for traffic
A big attraction of Corporate Golf at Portmarnock is the Irish capital itself. Let’s be honest here. The industry might use phrases like ‘hospitality’ or ‘entertainment’ etc but most of us know what we’re really talking about, and although perhaps people don’t like to openly admit it, we are most cases signalling the well won reputation that Dublin enjoys for an evening out and enjoying oneself. It would of course be wrong to suggest that this is a primary consideration in anyone’s consideration, it still very often figures as an undeclared influence. Perhaps all we need to say is that Dublin passes the mark

World ranked top-100 links. Can be played separatelyPortmarnock Links
The resort course owned and operated by the Portmarnock hotel was designed by Bernhard Langer and has established itself in Ireland’s top-20 on merit. This isn’t some soulless creation designed for the monied market. It’s a genuine golf links. The first nine holes play on more gentle rippling fairways with an emphasis on subtlety. The closing nine moves us onto the more demanding terrain defined by hillocks, dunes, and testing undulations
Portmarnock GC & The Island
The Portmarnock golf course is regarded as being one of the fairest links challenges in the world and is regularly ranked in the world’s top-100. It is possible to play it privately as a visitor, but anyone wishing to do so will need us to handle the request separately
The nearby Island course was a one time exclusive development that has become more accessible. Nearly surrounded by water on all sides its famed for its 11th, the narrowest fairway in Ireland
Dublin
Dublin is a city of great personality and character and it’s undoubtedly this that defines it rather than any tick list of landmarks and visitor attractions. It’s a city of poets and people that has earned itself a reputation for a lively night out. Whereas perhaps people might not like to admit this is a consideration in choosing a venue for a corporate golf event, let’s just say that if it is humming in the background, the option is there!
